Mark James is an Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics in the Department of English at Arizona State University (ASU). He directs the Linguistics and Applied Linguistics programs, overseeing the MTESOL, BA Linguistics, and TESOL certificate programs. His research focuses on learning transfer in second language education, particularly in curriculum design and second language writing. James teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in research methodology, second language pedagogy, and materials development at ASU. He also consults on educational design and runs weblengs, a company creating language learning materials. His work emphasizes practical strategies to enhance learning transfer in diverse educational contexts, including international collaborations in Taiwan, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Japan.
