Mark Hartfield is a Professor of Theatre at Polk State College, where he directs theatrical productions and teaches a variety of theatre courses. Since joining Polk State in 2011, he has directed over two dozen productions, including The Taming of the Shrew, Twelfth Night, and The Fantasticks. He also lectures within the Humanities department and actively engages in local theatre communities.
- Education: Master of Fine Arts from Brandeis University (Boston).
Hartfield’s research and professional interests span theatre directing, acting techniques, stage combat, and educational theatre. His career spans four decades, including roles as Show Director at Universal Orlando, General Manager of Theatre Winter Haven, and Artistic Director of Rogue Stage. He is currently authoring a book titled 'Act Better' – Prepare and Go There, focusing on acting methodologies.
Though no formal grants or awards are noted, his contributions to theatre education and performance are substantial. He has collaborated with institutions like Harrison School for the Arts and serves as a stage combat instructor in Central Florida. His work extends to producing and directing for Theatre Winter Haven and Orlando-based venues.
