Andrew Borba is a Professor of Acting at the University of California, Irvine, with a specialization in Shakespearean text coaching and performance. He has served on the faculty of prestigious institutions including University of Southern California, Juilliard, and New York University. A graduate of Brown University (cum laude) and holder of an M.F.A. from New York University, Borba combines academic expertise with an extensive professional career in theatre, film, and television.

Borba’s research and practice focus on classical acting techniques, particularly Shakespearean performance, as evidenced by his directing and coaching roles in plays like Hamlet: The First Quarto, Richard III, and The Taming of the Shrew. He has directed over 20 stage productions, including Hamlet: The First Quarto (multiple awards), Woyzeck (UCI), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Juilliard). His acting career spans regional theatres like South Coast Repertory, Chautauqua Theatre Company (12 seasons), and Oregon Shakespeare Festival (4 seasons), as well as film roles in Interstellar and Straight Outta Compton, and TV appearances in Modern Family and Criminal Minds.
