Mark Hammond earned his PhD in 2018 from Ulster University, focusing on the educational processes and purpose of youth work. He completed his undergraduate studies in Community Youth Work at Ulster University from 1994 to 1997. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (awarded 2016).

Mark Hammond’s research centers on the theory, purpose, and processes of youth work, with a strong emphasis on peacebuilding and community relations in Northern Ireland.
