معرفی
Dr. Mark Dufton is a Senior Lecturer in Pure And Applied Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde. His research focuses on bioinformatics-driven drug discovery, venom chemistry, and biomolecular structure analysis. Collaborations include work with the Department of Computer & Information Sciences (Dr. John Wilson) and the Department of Pharmacy (Prof. Simon Mackay). He leads the SID technology project for 3D structural analysis of biomolecules, aiming to accelerate drug development.
Research Interests: Bioinformatics for topomorphic drug design, snake venom enzyme roles in drug efficacy, and protein topology-driven evolution. Industrial focus includes reducing drug discovery costs via computational tools and exploring venom-based therapies for targeted drug delivery.
Projects: Principal Investigator of the SID Technology project (2008–present) and Co-Investigator in Leveraging Assets in Human Health (2014–2016). Activities include invited talks and presentations on venom research and drug discovery strategies.
Advising & Grants: Coordinates interdisciplinary teams for drug design and agrochemical research. Impacts include technology-driven pivots for U.S. and Korean pharmaceutical companies.
