Mark Dawson

Mark Dawson is Professor of European Law and Governance at the Hertie School in Berlin and serves as Co-Director of the Jacques Delors Centre. His academic career spans multiple prestigious institutions across Europe and North America, with expertise at the intersection of EU law and political science.

Professor Dawson's research focuses on EU law and particularly on how EU law affects and is affected by European politics and policymaking. His work examines legal and political accountability structures within EU economic governance, the role of courts in European integration, and the relationship between legal frameworks and political decision-making processes in the European Union.

His publications appear in leading journals including the Modern Law Review, Oxford Journal of Legal Studies, Common Market Law Review and Journal of European Public Policy. His scholarly work has been cited by significant judicial bodies including the European Court of Justice and German Constitutional Court, demonstrating its influence on European legal practice.
