Johannes Lindner is a political scientist and economist serving as co-director of the Jacques Delors Centre and Henrik Enderlein Fellow at the Hertie School in Berlin. He focuses on EU economic and fiscal policy, combining academic research with practical policy analysis. Lindner holds a PhD in political science from the University of Oxford, a Master of Public Administration and Public Policy from the London School of Economics, and a Diplom-Volkswirt from the University of Cologne. He previously served as Head of the EU Institutions and Fora Division at the European Central Bank (ECB) since 2012, and as an Honorary Professor at Aston University since 2018.
His work bridges academia and policy, emphasizing EU integration, financial governance, and budgetary frameworks. At the Jacques Delors Centre, Lindner leads think-tank efforts to develop evidence-based proposals for Europe’s challenges, continuing the legacy of Henrik Enderlein. The Henrik Enderlein Fellowship, funded by Stiftung Mercator, enables him to teach and conduct research at the Hertie School while advancing European policy discourse.
Key contributions include analyses of EU economic coordination, financial stability mechanisms, and institutional reforms. Lindner’s research interests span public administration, international economics, and the political economy of European integration.
