Mark Campbell serves as both Director of Athletics and Women's Basketball Head Coach at Union University, a position he assumed in June 2023 following Tommy Sadler's retirement. Having led the women's basketball program since 1999, the 2024-25 season marked his 27th year as head coach with an extraordinary 775-120 (.866) overall record. Under his leadership, the Lady Bulldogs have claimed five national championships and consistently ranked among the nation's elite programs.
Campbell earned his M.Ed. from Union University and B.S. from Lipscomb University, where he was a standout basketball player ranking 12th in all-time scoring with 1,509 points. His coaching journey began as a graduate assistant at Union in 1994, progressing to full-time assistant in 1996 before taking the women's basketball helm in 1999.
His coaching philosophy integrates Christian faith with athletic excellence, emphasizing: "My responsibility to each of my players is to have a vision for who they can be in every area of life, and communicate it to them in a way that challenges them to pursue it." This approach focuses on holistic development, character building, and team unity both on and off the court.
