Mark C. Alexander is the Arthur J. Kania Dean and Professor of Law at Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law. As dean, he oversees all strategic, academic, and administrative functions of the law school. Previously, he served as Associate Dean for Academics at Seton Hall University Law School, where he was honored as Professor of the Year multiple times. He holds a JD from Yale Law School and a BA in Architecture from Yale University.
His expertise spans constitutional law, election law, and First Amendment issues. Alexander has authored influential books on constitutional law and the First Amendment, published in leading journals such as the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy and NYU Review of Law & Social Change. He has served on the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (2010–2014) and is a Fulbright Scholar and fellow of the U.S.-Japan Leadership Program.
His career includes judicial clerkship for Chief Judge Thelton Henderson and litigation at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Alexander is a sought-after speaker at national/international law symposiums, addressing topics like civil discourse and democratic governance. Recent leadership roles include chairing panels at the AALS Annual Meeting and moderating discussions with political figures like Senators Russ Feingold and Kelly Ayotte.
