Mark A. Babcock serves as the M. Joan Kuyper Farver Endowed Chair in Music and Professor of Music at Central College. He is currently in his 15th year of teaching and holds the position of chair of the music department and director of choral activities.
Babcock specializes in organ performance, music education, and church music, with extensive experience in choral conducting. His professional expertise spans vocal music instruction, church music leadership, and music theory education.
Among his professional recognitions are the prestigious M. Joan Farver Endowed Professorship awarded in 2011 and the honor of being named the 2005 'Organist of Iowa' by Iowa State University.

Beyond his academic responsibilities, Babcock maintains an active role in professional organizations including the American Guild of Organists, where he served as dean of the central Iowa chapter and on the AGO National Council, and the Iowa Choral Director's Association as repertoire and standards chair for music and worship. He also serves as organist and choirmaster at St. Mark Lutheran Church in West Des Moines.
His leadership extends to directing the Central College A Cappella Choir on international tours to Italy (2009), Washington, D.C. and the National Cathedral (2010), and Brazil (2013).
