Marjorie Delbaere is a Professor of Marketing and Associate Dean of Research, Graduate Programs, and Faculty Relations at the Edwards School of Business, University of Saskatchewan (on administrative leave). She holds a PhD and B.Comm (Honours) from the University of Manitoba. Her research focuses on persuasive communication, metaphors/rhetorical figures in pharmaceutical marketing, and the role of influencers in healthcare advertising. She has secured major grants from SSHRC, including a 2020 Insight Grant on patient influencers and a 2009 Standard Research Grant on analogies in drug advertising.
Teaching includes undergraduate courses like Marketing Strategy and graduate courses like Marketing Theory. Her work bridges academic theory and industry practice, with publications in Journal of Advertising, Psychology & Marketing, and Marketing Theory. Current research explores digital health communication, influencer dynamics, and controversies in biotechnology advertising. She advises graduate students in the MSc Marketing program and has supervised honours students.
