Marjolein de Boer is an Assistant Professor in Health Humanities at Tilburg University's Department of Culture Studies. She holds a PhD from Maastricht University and was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the University of Oslo. Her research focuses on women's experiences of illness, medicalization, and embodiment, with a particular emphasis on menopause, chronic fatigue, infertility, and breast cancer. She combines philosophical theories with qualitative methods to explore how societal narratives and technologies shape lived experiences.

Her work examines themes such as self-tracking technologies in menopause, media representations of aging, and the ethical implications of cultural narratives around illness. She has published widely in journals like Philosophy and Social Criticism and Health, and her research has been featured in Dutch media outlets.
