Dr. Marjolein Deunk is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Educational Science within the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences at the University of Groningen. Her research focuses on teacher-child interactions, language and literacy development in early childhood education, cultural diversity and inclusion, and art-based pedagogy. She coordinates the GION Promolokaal and serves as Secretary of the Board of Examiners for Pedagogy and Educational Sciences. Additionally, she actively participates in national committees such as the KNAW Comenius Network and the NWO review boards for educational grants.
Her educational background and professional experience emphasize bridging research and practice, particularly in fostering inclusive educational environments. Key positions include membership in the Centre of Expertise Interaction in Diverse Classrooms and the Academy of Arts working group on racism and inequity. She has contributed to numerous policy-related projects, including studies on small school governance and student wellbeing in higher education.
