Marjolein Dobber

Marjolein Dobber is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Sciences at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, affiliated with the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences and the LEARN! Learning Sciences research group. She holds a PhD in Educational Studies from Leiden University (2011), focusing on collaboration in teacher education groups. Her research interests center on developmental education, early childhood learning, teacher professional development, and inquiry-based pedagogical approaches.

Dr. Dobber’s work addresses topics such as dialogic classroom interaction, mathematisation in young children, historical pedagogy, and civic education. She has contributed to projects like the “Wonder-full Education and Human Flourishing” initiative, exploring spirituality and morality in childhood education. She actively participates in academic activities, including organizing conferences (e.g., ISCAR 2024) and publishing in journals like Research Papers in Education and Zone.
