Mariya Zilberman

Mariya Zilberman is a Lecturer I in the Department of English at the University of Michigan, part of the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA). She specializes in poetry and creative writing, currently working on her first poetry collection.

Education:

• MFA, University of Michigan Helen Zell Writers' Program
• BA, University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism

Research/Teaching: Zilberman’s poetry appears in Ploughshares, Kenyon Review, Columbia Journal, and Guesthouse. Her work explores themes of identity, migration, and cultural heritage, reflecting her background as an immigrant from Belarus to the U.S. She teaches multiple sections of ENGLISH 223: Creative Writing.
