Prof Marion Gray is the Academic Director (Health Partnerships) at the University of Southern Queensland, affiliated with the Centre for Health Research. She holds qualifications including a PhD from the University of Otago. Her research focuses on occupational therapy, mental health, public health, and Indigenous health, with a strong emphasis on improving healthcare access and quality for marginalized populations. Her work spans diverse areas such as leisure engagement in mental health settings, midwifery practices in Tanzania, and reducing health disparities among Indigenous communities.
Education: BOccTherapy (Otago Polytechnic), PGCertEd (James Cook University), MHlthSc (Otago), PhD (Otago).
Research interests include occupational wellbeing, healthcare policy, and culturally safe practices. Her studies investigate patient experiences in inpatient units, midwifery challenges in sub-Saharan Africa, and the impacts of sedentary behavior on university students. Recent work emphasizes translating research into actionable policies and programs to enhance health equity.
Her articles highlight trends in mental health leisure programs, neonatal resuscitation training, and Indigenous health interventions. She collaborates on projects addressing CRPS patient experiences, rural healthcare access, and cultural safety training for allied health students.
Prof Gray’s work bridges academic and applied health research, with a focus on community engagement and policy impact. She has contributed to over 50 publications since 2012, addressing global health challenges and local healthcare improvements.
