Marion Duquerroy is an Associate Professor of Contemporary Art History at Université Catholique de l'Ouest (UCO) in Angers, France. She holds a Doctorate in Art History from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2013), specializing in British contemporary art and the intersection of nature, politics, and aesthetics. Her research focuses on post-industrial landscapes, the Anthropocene, and the role of art in reflecting societal estrangement from nature and non-human entities. She leads the TRAMé(e)S research project exploring weaving, representation, and cultural hybridity, and co-curated the Trilogie de cendres exhibition at Frac Pays de Loire (2022).
Education: Doctorate in Art History (Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, 2013); Postdoctoral research on British post-industrial landscapes (Labex CAP, 2014).
Roles: Academic Manager for Visual Arts programs, Head of Year 3 Art History, and oversees the Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts at UCO.
Research Themes: British contemporary art, cultural policy, animal studies in art, post-industrial ruins, and postcolonial visual cultures. Her work analyzes how artists reinterpret industrial decay and environmental crises through media like film, installation, and digital art.
Key Projects: Organized international conferences on Impressionism, ruin aesthetics, and sound/noise in art. Published extensively on topics like 'ruin porn,' the ethics of post-industrial representation, and the political dimensions of art curation.
Lab/Team: Leads the CHUS research team at UCO, collaborating with institutions like the Musée d'Orsay and the TALM School of Art and Design on interdisciplinary projects linking art, ecology, and cultural heritage.
