Bolster’s work interrogates the long poem and serial forms, ekphrastic techniques, and the representation of human/nature relationships in zoos, gardens, and theme parks. Her projects often bridge art history (e.g., 17th-century Dutch painting) with contemporary issues like nuclear disasters and cultural memory.
Her poetry has been recognized with prestigious awards including the Governor General’s Award and Bronwen Wallace Award. Bolster has also secured significant research-creation grants from SSHRC and FQRSC for projects like Tracing ephemeral experiences in aesthetic practices (2022-2024). She frequently engages with interdisciplinary collaborations and has delivered readings internationally, including at the Whitehorse Poetry Festival and Blue-Metropolis-Bleu Poetry Festival.
