Marion Alves is an Associate Professor (PRAG) in the Department of Political Science at Lumière Lyon 2 University and a doctoral student at the Maurice Halbwachs Center (CMH). Her research focuses on socialization processes, human-animal relationships, ecology, food practices, and childhood. She teaches courses such as Comparative Politics of Western Democracies, Sociology of Collective Mobilizations, and Ecology & Politics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her doctoral thesis, supervised by Séverine Gojard and Jérôme Michalon, explores Child socialization and relationships with other species, analyzing how childhood activities shape attitudes toward non-human species.
Her work combines ethnographic methods with institutional and policy analysis, particularly in school and family settings. Key themes include the transmission of food practices, the role of education in environmental awareness, and the sociological dimensions of human-animal interactions. Marion’s research bridges political science, sociology, and anthropology, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to understand multi-species social dynamics.
