Sabine Remanofsky

Sabine Remanofsky is an Associate Professor (PRAG) at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS de Lyon), affiliated with the Triangle laboratory (UMR 5206). Her academic career spans teaching and research in American intellectual history, with a focus on 19th-century religious controversies and socio-political movements. She holds a Doctorate in English Studies from Université Lumière Lyon 2 (2012), specializing in the transcendentalist controversy and its socio-religious determinants.

Research Interests: Dr. Remanofsky specializes in the intersection of religion, intellectual history, and socio-political movements in 19^th-century America. Her work examines controversies such as Transcendentalism’s challenges to mainstream theology, labor movements’ suppression mechanisms, and the historiography of American religious radicalism. Her methodologies combine textual analysis with interdisciplinary approaches to reconstruct historical discourses.

Teaching and Leadership: She teaches key American history seminars for non-specialists and coordinates English-for-science courses at ENS de Lyon. She co-manages the Language Center website and contributed to lab initiatives like the Production discursive des catégories sociales junior research group.

Awards and Grants: Received a Fulbright Scholarship (2010–2011) for archival research at Princeton Theological Seminary and Harvard. Her work has been supported by Triangle laboratory collaborations and international conferences.
