Christoph Gilles is an Associate Professor at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS Lyon), affiliated with the Language Center. His academic journey includes a doctorate from Université Lumière Lyon 2 on British neoliberal intellectual history. He has held roles such as Associate Professor at Université Lille 1 (2008–2011) and Reader at Kingston University (2006–2008). His research focuses on neoliberalism, Thatcherism, anti-union discourse, and British political thought. Gilles has co-organized conferences on topics like anti-union strategies and neoliberalism's institutional matrices. He contributes to the Triangle laboratory (UMR 5206), engaging in interdisciplinary projects on social categories and discursive production. His teaching spans global economic history, scientific communication, and specialized English for sciences. He actively publishes in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, addressing themes like Friedrich Hayek’s authoritarian liberalism and Thatcherite legacy.
Education highlights include a DEA in Anglophone Studies (2004) and part-time lecturing at Université Lyon 2 (2002–2004). He co-edited Les ennemis de l’intérieur (2015) and authored chapters on neoliberal discourse and historical controversies. His work bridges intellectual history, political economy, and sociopolitical discourse analysis.
