Mario Baratta is a Full Professor of Veterinary Physiology at the University of Turin, Italy, with affiliations at the University of Parma. His career spans over 30 years, including roles as Head of the Department of Veterinary Morphophysiology (2008-2012) and Coordinator of international research initiatives like the European COST FA1308 "Dairycare" project. He specializes in mammalian physiology, stem cell research, and animal welfare.

Research Interests: His work focuses on 1) animal welfare biomarkers and mammary stem cells in dairy cows; 2) muscle development in beef cattle; 3) xenobiotic impacts on mammary gland function; and 4) biosensor applications for livestock monitoring. Recent projects include "Smartsheep" (2019-2021) and HORIZON 2020 SUSAN-ERANET "Ecolamb" (2017-2020).
Scientific Contributions: With 67 ISI publications (H-index 22), he has edited journals like Frontiers in Veterinary Medicine and authored a Springer book on epithelial cell culture. Awards include the 2014 IRCA from the University of Sydney.
