Marina Richter

Marina Richter is a Professor at HES-SO Valais-Wallis, leading the CrimSo research group. Her work focuses on carceral institutions, migration, gender studies, and social space. She holds a dual background in geography and sociology, emphasizing intersectionality and spatial analysis in her research.

Current research includes projects funded by SNSF exploring prison social work dynamics, parole experiences, and carceral geographies. Notable collaborations involve the University of Bern and Lonza Group for community integration initiatives. She has secured over CHF 2M in grants, including a 2022-2026 SNSF project on carceral social work practices.

Publications span carceral social work methodologies, end-of-life care in prisons, and post-humanist approaches to urban social work. Her work bridges theoretical innovation with applied interventions, addressing systemic challenges in correctional facilities and community reintegration.
