Education:
- BA (Mod) in English Literature and Psychology from Trinity College Dublin
- MSc in Equality Studies from University College Dublin
- PhD in Equality Studies (IRC-funded) from University College Dublin
Moran's research spans Equality Studies, critical social and political theory, cultural studies, and political economy. She investigates identity and identity politics through a cultural materialist lens, examines elite studies within capitalist societies, and explores universities' roles in reproducing or resisting inequality. Her work connects theoretical frameworks with practical applications for social justice, with increasing focus on financial elites and 21st-century equality frameworks in recent publications.
Moran's publications reveal consistent engagement with equality, identity politics, and cultural materialism, with growing attention to elite studies. Her work bridges theoretical analysis with empirical research, applying Raymond Williams' cultural materialist framework to contemporary political and social issues across sociology, political theory, and cultural studies, increasingly focusing on the relationship between financial elites and inequality.
