Dr. Marie Kotzur is a Lecturer in Health Psychology/Behavioural Sciences related to Dentistry at the University of Glasgow Dental School, and an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Health & Wellbeing. She holds a PhD in Applied Psychology from University College Cork (2017) and a BA(Hons) in Applied Psychology (2010). Her research focuses on reducing health inequalities in oral health and cancer outcomes through behavioral science, with expertise in participatory research and patient/public involvement.

- Research Interests: Behavioral science, health inequalities, participatory interventions, cancer screening, and mixed-methodology research.
Her projects include the STAR tool process evaluation for early childhood toothbrushing, improving cancer screening access for marginalized groups (e.g., Muslim women, individuals with intellectual disabilities), and evaluating bowel cancer screening interventions. She has received grants from Cancer Research UK, the Scottish Government, and NHS Lanarkshire.
Selected awards include the 2023 Early Career Award from the International Society of Behavioral Medicine and participation in leadership programs like The Glasgow Crucible (2021). She contributes to teaching the Bachelor in Dental Surgery and Masters in Public Health programs, focusing on behavioral science and health promotion.
