Maria das Dores Guerreiro is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL), where she also serves as Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Erasmus Institutional Coordinator. She is an integrated researcher at CIES-Iscte – Center for Research and Studies in Sociology, contributing to the research group on Gender, Life Course and Health.

Her research focuses on Sociology of the Family, Gender Studies, Generations and Life Courses, Social and Family Policies, Work-Family Relationship, and Family Entrepreneurship. She has led and participated in numerous interdisciplinary and international research projects funded by the European Commission and national agencies.
Her scientific work has generated significant impact, with over 118 indexed publications and more than 2,800 citations on Google Scholar (h-index 26), reflecting her influence in the social sciences. She has coordinated large-scale research initiatives analyzing domestic violence services, work-family reconciliation, and the integration of women survivors through education and entrepreneurship.
She has held key leadership roles, including Director of the journal Sociology, Problems and Practices (2001–2017), coordinator of the MFAMILY Erasmus Mundus program, and national representative in the European Network Families and Work (1994–2000). She has also served as Deputy Director and member of the Scientific Committee of the Department of Sociology.
