Maria Turkina is an Associate Professor (Docent) at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) and the Division of Cell and Neurobiology (CNB). Her work focuses on proteomics, marine biology, environmental toxicology, and molecular mechanisms in health and disease. She holds a prominent role in research and teaching within cell biology, neurobiology, and biomedical systems. Her research explores topics such as venom proteomics in marine organisms, nanoparticle toxicity in aquatic species, immunological profiling of neutrophils, and oncological biomarkers.
Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding proteomic diversity in sea anemones, antifouling compounds in cyanobacteria, and mitochondrial pathways in lung cancer prognosis. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges basic science with clinical applications.
Maria Turkina is actively engaged in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, contributing to both research and educational programs at LiU. She can be reached at maria.turkina@liu.se.
