معرفی
Walker Jackson is an Associate Professor and Docent at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. His research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly selective vulnerability mechanisms in prion diseases and the role of sleep in disease progression. He leads a lab utilizing mouse genetic tools, CRISPR/Cas9 technology, and next-generation sequencing to study gene regulation in specific neural populations.
Research Interests:
- Neurodegenerative disease mechanisms
- Selective vulnerability of brain regions
- Prion disease pathogenesis and modeling
- Gene regulation in neurodegeneration
- Neuroimmunology and protein aggregation
His work integrates translational studies with molecular biology, employing advanced techniques like RiboTag-based mRNA analysis and transgenic mouse models. Collaborations include the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular Medicine (WCMM-LiU), emphasizing the medicine-technology interface in neurodegenerative research. Recent studies highlight early cellular changes in prion diseases and the translational control of memory-related genes via DNA G-quadruplex structures.
