Dr. Maria Tsiapa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Thessaly (Greece). She holds a PhD from the same institution and specializes in economic geography, regional development, and European integration. Her affiliations include research roles at the SEED Center and Laboratory of Regional Economic Analyses.
Her research examines production systems, trade/FDI patterns, and spatial inequalities in the EU and Balkans. She has led projects like ESSPIN (Horizon 2022-2024) and Interregional Relations in Europe (ESPON 2020-2022). Publications focus on productivity analysis, regional resilience, and economic dualism.
