Professor Kotios Aggelos holds a prominent academic position at the University of Piraeus, serving as Dean of the School of Economics, Business and International Studies since 2014. He previously served as Rector of the University of Piraeus (2017-2022) and Deputy Rector of the University of Thessaly (2005-2008). His career includes roles as Associate Professor at the Department of Spatial Planning, Architecture & Regional Development at the University of Thessaly (1995-2008).
His research focuses on international economic relations, European integration, and development policies. He led the 'Evaluation of Programs and Development Policies' laboratory at the University of Thessaly (1999-2007) and contributed to German-funded research on EU economic policy and global economic order. He has authored a monograph on EU external economic policy and participated in high-level policy evaluations for major infrastructure projects in Greece.
Administratively, he has held leadership roles including President of the Senate Evaluation Committee, member of national development committees (e.g., Hellenic Foundation for European and Mediterranean Energy Consortium), and advisor to local governments. His work spans academic governance, policy analysis, and sustainable development initiatives.
