Kotios Angelos is Professor in the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus and serves as Dean of the School of Economics, Business and International Studies since 2014. Previously, he was Rector of the University of Piraeus (2017-2022) and Deputy President (2009-2011). His academic career includes significant leadership roles at the University of Thessaly where he served as Vice-Rector (2005-2008) and Professor in the Department of Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Regional Development Engineering (1995-2008).
His research focuses on International and European Economic and Development Relations, with early career work at the University of Tübingen (1987-1991) on the "International and European Economic Order" project funded by the German Research Foundation. He authored the monograph "Die EG-Außenwirtschaftspolitik und die Weltwirtschaftsordnung" (The EC External Economic Policy and the World Economic Order) and contributed to numerous studies on European Integration.
Professor Kotios has held extensive administrative responsibilities including President of the Department of Tourism Studies, Chairman of multiple Electoral Committees at the University of Piraeus, and leadership roles in evaluating major infrastructure projects across Greece totaling over 1,200 kilometers of highway development.
He has served on national boards including the National Center for Environment and Sustainable Development (2004-2006) and the State Scholarships Foundation (2007-2009), and currently participates in government committees related to regional development policy at the Ministry of Development, Competitiveness and Shipping.
