Maria Haak is a Professor in Health Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Kristianstad University. She serves as Director of Studies for Postgraduate Education in Nursing Science and is affiliated with the Center for Food, Health, and Retail (FOHRK) and the Human-Health-Society (MHS) research platform.

Her research explores how home and local environments influence health, independence, and participation in older adults, particularly those with functional limitations. Key themes include:
