Maria Crowe, Ph.D., serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences within Marquette University's College of Health Sciences, a position she has held since becoming affiliated with the institution in 2000 after initially joining as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.
Her academic credentials include:
- B.S. in Biological Sciences from Indiana University (1984)
- Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy from the University of Cincinnati (1992)
- Postdoctoral fellowship at The Ohio State University (1992-1995)
Dr. Crowe's research spans Neuroscience, Neuroanatomy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Wound Healing, and Anatomy, with foundational work on olfactory neuroepithelium heterogeneity, spinal cord neurotrauma, and molecular wound healing mechanisms. Her expertise informs teaching in Anatomy and Physiology, Head and Neck Gross Anatomy, and Dental School Neurocranial Anatomy courses.
She actively advises students in pre-medical, pre-dental, and pre-PA tracks, leveraging her extensive research background from prior roles at Shriners Burns Hospital for Children and the Medical College of Wisconsin where she directed neurotrauma studies.
