Claire Werner is an Assistant Professor and Director of Sustainability at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She holds a PhD in Anatomy from Penn State College of Medicine and dual BAs in Anthropology and Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on spinal cord injury-induced neural remodeling and muscarinic receptor changes in the enteric nervous system, recognized at the National Neurotrauma Society Conference (2022) and awarded in 2021. She teaches anatomy, histology, and neuroanatomy to dental students, emphasizing innovative pedagogy. As Director of Sustainability, she collaborates with the University of Pittsburgh Office of Sustainability in the Health Sciences to integrate sustainable practices across the school.
