Caitlin Sachsenmeier

Caitlin Sachsenmeier is an Assistant Professor of Anatomy at Duquesne University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is actively engaged in teaching and mentoring medical and master's students, with a focus on advancing educational methodologies.

• Education: B.S. in Biology and Forensic Science from West Virginia University; M.S. in Forensic and Biological Anthropology from Mercyhurst University (research on soil and human microbiome interactions during post-mortem intervals); D.O. in Anatomy Education from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (dissertation on gamification in medical education).

Her research interests center on medical education, particularly the implementation of gamification and game-based learning to enhance review sessions for medical and graduate students. She also draws expertise from forensic science and biological anthropology, informed by her academic training and dissertation work on microbiome interactions in post-mortem contexts.
