Maria Camacho Doyle is a Lecturer at Örebro University's School of Behavioural, Social and Legal Sciences, affiliated with the Department of Behavioral, Social and Legal Sciences. She holds a PhD in Criminology from Örebro University, alongside a Master's in Psychology (prevention science) and two Bachelor's degrees in Criminology and Rhetoric-Communicative Leadership.
Her research focuses on platform-based criminology, emphasizing geographical risk factors for crime and fear of crime. Key interests include crime forecasting, spatial analysis, mapping for crime prevention, and security-building interventions. She contributes to the Center for Criminological and Psychosocial Research (CAPS).
Teaching areas include scientific methods, crime prevention, safety interventions, and criminological theories. Recent publications explore crime hotspots in Malmö, Stockholm risk terrain modeling, and perceived unsafety linked to neighborhood characteristics. Her work bridges theoretical criminology with practical crime reduction strategies.
Maria has authored/co-authored multiple peer-reviewed articles and reports, including guides for structured crime prevention initiatives (e.g., SIG: RBM framework). Her research highlights the intersection of space, crime, and community safety, informed by advanced geospatial techniques and empirical studies.
