Maria Aymerich Andreu

Dr. Maria Aymerich Andreu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Education and Psychology, University of Girona (UdG), and a member of the Quality of Life Research Institute (IRQV). She leads the Health Psychology Research Group, recognized as a Consolidated Research Group by the Catalan government for 2009-2013, 2014-2016, and 2017-2020.

Her educational background includes:

• Psychology Degree, Autonomous University of Barcelona (1991)
• Diploma in Gerontology, University of Girona (1994)
• PhD in Psychology, Autonomous University of Barcelona (1999)

Her research focuses on Health Psychology with five primary lines:

• Well-being and quality of life during aging, originating from her doctoral thesis on retirement adjustment
• Risk behaviors in adolescence (driving, sexual risk, Eating Disorders)
• Teaching quality in Psychology education
• Well-being and life satisfaction fluctuations during adolescent development
• Physical and psychological effects of COVID-19 on healthcare workers

She has produced numerous conference presentations, technical reports, and high-impact journal publications while participating in research contracts and knowledge transfer projects with private and public institutions.

Dr. Aymerich Andreu has held significant management roles including Coordinator of the Master's in General Health Psychology (2020-present), Secretary of IRQV (2015-2020), and Representative of Personality, Assessment and Psychological Treatments in the Department Studies Council (2008-2022). She has directed multiple Final Degree Projects and served on evaluation committees while teaching core and specialized courses including Clinical Child/Adolescent Psychology, Eating Disorders, and Stress and Health across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
