Josefina Patiño Maso

Josefina Patiño Maso is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Girona (UdG), where she has been a full-time faculty member since 2013. She has over three decades of experience in nursing education, research, and leadership, including serving as Dean of the Faculty of Nursing (2012–2016) and Delegate for Affiliated Centers at UdG.

Her educational background includes a PhD from UdG (2012), a degree in Psychology (UdG, 2006), and a Nursing Diploma from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (1983), along with a specialization in Pediatric Nursing (2015).

Her research focuses on pediatric and maternal nursing, adolescent health risk behaviors (especially substance use), and innovative teaching methodologies in nursing education. She is a member of the consolidated Health Psychology Research Group under the Institute of Research on Quality of Life (IRQV).

The analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong emphasis on adolescent substance use, clinical reasoning in nursing, health promotion, and educational innovation. Her work bridges clinical practice, education, and public health, with a consistent focus on improving outcomes for children, adolescents, and families.

Internationally, she has received over 10 Erasmus teaching mobility grants and a short-term internationalization grant at Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Finland (2010), and is a long-standing member of the European Florence Network (since 2005).

She is actively involved in research dissemination, having participated in over 25 scientific and organizing committees for national and international conferences and congresses.
