Concepcio Fuentes Pumarola

Concepcio Fuentes Pumarola is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Girona (UdG). With a dual background in clinical nursing and social sciences, she has established a robust academic and research profile integrating health, gender, and education. She is a co-founder and principal investigator of the Health, Gender and Aging Research Group at UdG and actively participates in national research projects funded by MCIU and AGAUR.

Her work bridges clinical practice with social science perspectives, emphasizing knowledge transfer and policy impact.

The most recent publications reflect a strong trend in gender-based violence, mental health, maternal care, and educational innovation. These works are interdisciplinary, combining nursing, psychology, public health, and pedagogy. They emphasize participatory methodologies, equity, and systemic interventions in healthcare and education.

She has directed 27 Master’s theses and 5 PhDs, and currently co-supervises four doctoral candidates. She leads the research group Health, Gender and Aging and is actively involved in the Gender Perspective Teaching Innovation Network at UdG. She serves on the Gender Integration Committee of the Faculty of Nursing and advises the Catalan Department of Health on gender health policies.
