Maria Anastassiathe is an Adjunct Professor of Greek Language and Literature, with affiliations at Dickinson College (Department of Classical Studies and Archaeology, 2002-2020) and Brown University (Department of Classics, 1998-2001). She currently serves as Vice-President of the Mycenaean Foundation and Director of the Melathron American Center for Archaeology at Mycenae (2018-). Her expertise spans Modern Greek Language and Literature, Classics, and Ancient History.
Education: B.A. in History (University of Athens, 1988), M.A. in Ancient Greek (Bryn Mawr College, 1997). She also taught at a public high school in Athens (1996/97).
Research focuses on Modern Greek Language and Literature, with secondary interests in Ancient Greek History and Classics. She has presented at international conferences on teaching Greek as a foreign language (Patra 1999/2000, Athens 2000). A published poet, she is currently working on her first novel.
