Mari W. Buche serves as Associate Dean and Professor of Management Information Systems in the College of Business at Michigan Technological University, with an additional affiliation in Data Science. Since joining in 2003, she has actively contributed to campus and community life through Houghton Rotary Club service and enthusiastic support for Michigan Tech athletics.

Dr. Buche's research centers on the impact of IS/IT changes on professionals, exploring career transitions (e.g., programmer to systems analyst) and technological shifts' radical effects on professional identity. She investigates computer anxiety, self-efficacy, mentoring via ICT, and IT service management standards like ITIL, with strong emphasis on improving gender balance in STEM fields and IT workforce retention.
Her recent publications (2015-2023) reveal dominant themes of gender diversity in IT (including job crafting for women's retention and men's workplace challenges), information security policy design, and technology acceptance in educational contexts, demonstrating consistent focus on human aspects of information systems across diverse application areas.
