Margalida Capellà Roig is a full professor of Public International Law at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where she has been active since 1997. Her academic journey includes roles as an assistant professor, doctoral assistant, and contracted professor before attaining her current rank in 2022. She holds a doctorate in Law (2002) and has conducted research in International Criminal Law and Human Rights Law, with international stays in Paris, Cambridge, Strasbourg, and Cuba.
Her teaching spans undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in Law, covering subjects like Public International Law, Equality Policies, Immigration Law, and Practical Placements. She currently directs the UIB Legal Clinic and the LIDIB (Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Rights and Freedoms), focusing on human rights. Administrative roles include Deputy Director of the UIB Security and Police Science Program, Head of Vulnerable Groups at the UIB Equality Office, and President of the UIB Teaching and Research Staff Board (2023–present).
Her research emphasizes the intersection of international and domestic law in human rights protection, reflected in her membership in the Consolidated R+D+I Group “Challenges in the Protection of Human Rights.” She has also served in the Balearic Parliament (2015–2017) and advises PhD students in the Law program.
