Margalida Capellà

Margalida Capellà is a Professor of International Public Law at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and Director of the Law Faculty’s Human Rights Lab (LIDIB). Her expertise centers on European law frameworks, including European arrest warrants, preliminary rulings, and the intersection of human rights with national legal systems. She analyzes judicial decisions, such as the Supreme Court’s handling of the October 14 'process,' focusing on the right to freedom of peaceful assembly in light of recent European Court of Human Rights case law.

Her research emphasizes the application of international and European legal standards to domestic judicial contexts, particularly in areas of criminal law and fundamental rights. As director of LIDIB, she contributes to advancing human rights scholarship and advocacy through institutional initiatives and public engagement.
