Marcus Smolensky is an Adjunct Professor of Music at Susquehanna University and Bucknell University. He specializes in viola performance and music education, maintaining a large private teaching studio. His professional experience includes memberships in the Rochester Philharmonic, Syracuse Symphony, and Harrisburg Symphony, as well as solo performances with orchestras in the U.S. and Czech Republic.
Dr. Smolensky holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from Rutgers University, a Master of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and a Bachelor of Music from the Eastman School of Music. He has taught at institutions including Lebanon Valley College, Penn State, and the University of Texas-Pan American.
As a founding member of the Metta String Quartet, he emphasizes chamber music and collaborative performance. His career combines orchestral performance, academic teaching, and pedagogical innovation in string instrument instruction.
