Jay Christy serves as an Artist Affiliate at Emory University and adjunct faculty at Georgia Institute of Technology. He is the Acting Associate Principal/Assistant Principal Second Violin of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra since 1992. His roles include teaching violin and chamber music in Atlanta, with affiliations at Reinhardt and Covenant Colleges.
Education: B.M. from Cleveland Institute of Music (students of David Cerone, David Updegraff, Victor Dancehenk, Eugene Gratovich), M.M. from Indiana University (Franco Gulli). Additional orchestral studies with Stephen Majeske and Bernhard Goldschmidt.
Performance highlights include Grand Teton Music Festival (2003–present), Brevard Music Center (2013), Cleveland Orchestra collaborations (2012), and solo performances with orchestras such as Emory Youth Symphony and Florida Symphony. Chamber affiliations include Riverside Chamber Players, Vega String Quartet, and Christy Oboe Quartet.
Recordings: Two chamber music albums with Riverside Chamber Players and Christy Oboe Quartet. Extensive experience in orchestral roles, including American Sinfonietta Assistant Concertmaster (1999–2002) and solo performances across the U.S.
