Marco Manacorda is a Professor of Economics and Public Policy at Queen Mary University of London's School of Economics and Finance, where he serves as School Impact Lead. He holds a PhD from University College London and an MSc from the London School of Economics. His research focuses on Labour Economics, Political Economy, and Development Economics, with emphasis on migration, child labor, social protection, and political mobilization.
He has held visiting roles at Princeton University, UC Berkeley, and Bocconi University. Awards include the Nuffield Foundation Fellowship. His work appears in top journals like American Economic Review and Econometrica. He advises international organizations such as the World Bank and OECD on labor migration, crime prevention, and child labor policies.
Key research contributions include studies on mobile phones' impact on African political movements, nepotism in Italian firms, and cash transfer programs' effects on birth outcomes. His policy engagements include designing Uruguay's PANES poverty relief program and advising the Inter-American Development Bank.
