Tito Boeri is an Italian economist currently serving as President of the Italian social security administration (INPS) while on leave from several academic positions. He is Professor of Economics at Bocconi University's Department of Economics, Dean for Research at Bocconi University, BP Centennial Professor at London School of Economics, and Scientific Director of the Fondazione Rodolfo Debenedetti. He maintains extensive affiliations including Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) of London, Research Associate of the Centre for Economic Performance at LSE, and Research Fellow of IZA (Institut zur Zukunft der Arbeit) of Bonn.
Boeri earned his Ph.D. in Economics from New York University in 1990 with a dissertation titled "An Analysis of Firm Growth and Specialization," supervised by William J. Baumol, Cristopher J. Flinn and Boyan Jovanovic. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics from Università Commerciale "Luigi Bocconi" in 1983. Prior to his current positions, he held significant roles at the OECD from 1986-1996, including Principal Administrator and Acting Head of Division at the OECD-Centre for Co-operation with the Economies in Transition.
His primary research focuses on Labour Economics, Political Economics, and Transition Economics, with substantial contributions to understanding labor market institutions, unemployment dynamics, migration effects, pension systems, and the political economy of reform. Boeri has published numerous books with Oxford University Press, MIT Press, and Princeton University Press, and his articles have appeared in top journals including American Economic Review, Journal of Economic Perspectives, Economic Policy, and European Economic Review.
Boeri's publication record shows consistent scholarly output addressing critical economic policy issues, particularly those related to European labor markets. His work spans theoretical analysis and empirical research on topics including minimum wage policies, flexicurity arrangements, immigration impacts, and pension reforms, demonstrating both academic rigor and policy relevance.

As a public intellectual, Boeri serves on editorial boards of major economics journals, contributes to prominent newspapers including "Repubblica," Financial Times, and Le Monde, and has held leadership roles including Director of DIEM at Bocconi University (2001-2006) and membership on various government commissions addressing economic policy challenges.
