Marco Bassetto is a Senior Research Economist and Monetary Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, a role he has held since 2019. Previously, he served as a Senior Economist and Research Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and held academic positions, including Professor at University College London and Assistant Professorships at the University of Minnesota and Northwestern University. He earned a B.A. from Bocconi University (Milan, Italy) and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago.
His research focuses on applying game theory to macroeconomics and analyzing the design and consistency of macroeconomic policies. Key areas include fiscal inflation mechanisms, monetary-fiscal policy coordination, and the interplay between financial conditions and policy shocks.
