Marco Krüger is a Research Fellow and Principal Investigator (PI) of the Security Ethics research focus at the International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities (IZEW) at the University of Tübingen. Since April 2022, he has been a member of the parliamentary inquiry commission 'Crisis-proof Society' in Baden-Württemberg. His research focuses on resilience, critical security studies, and disaster risk reduction, with an emphasis on ethical dimensions of crisis management and societal security.
He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Tübingen (2023), titled The Emancipatory Potential of Resilience. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications, addressing topics such as vulnerability in disasters, gender and security, and the role of civil society in resilience-building.
Key projects include leading the AUPIK project on home care infrastructure resilience and contributing to EU-funded initiatives like BuildERS and KOPHIS. He has published extensively on resilience theory, disaster governance, and ethical research methodologies. Krüger teaches courses on migration politics, critical security studies, and resilience ethics at the University of Tübingen.
His professional activities include advisory roles in crisis management, public speaking on resilience and ethics, and interdisciplinary collaborations with international institutions. He actively engages in policy debates, emphasizing inclusive and socially just approaches to security and disaster preparedness.
