Dr. Marco Giani is a Senior Lecturer in Political Economy at King's College London's Department of Political Economy, part of the School of Politics & Economics. He holds a PhD from Université Libre de Bruxelles (2017) and a BA from Università degli Studi di Firenze (2008). Prior roles include Research Fellowships at LSE and UCL, alongside work with UNICEF and the European Commission.
His research focuses on social cleavages, political values, and education divides in European societies, with methodological expertise in causal inference using observational data. Key areas include civil-military dynamics, post-terrorism public opinion, and global racist contagion. He teaches 'Statistics for History and Politics' and 'Politics of Discrimination,' and supervises interdisciplinary PhD students exploring historical/political societal relationships.
Recent work examines military recruitment crises, Bologna Process impacts, and coeducation's role in sexism in the Soviet Union. He collaborates in the Quantitative Political Economy and Comparative Politics research groups, bridging economics and political science methodologies.
